The Occhio Mito Collection: One Design Language Across Every Room

The Occhio Mito is not a single product. It is a family of luminaires built around one consistent design language: a spherical or ovoid light head that sits on a body which changes depending on the model — a sweeping floor arc, a pendant drop, a ceiling arm, or a compact wall mount. The geometry stays coherent enough that Mito pieces from different sub-families read as part of the same object when placed together. That consistency is deliberate, and it is what makes the Mito worth understanding properly rather than treating it as a single purchase decision. Whether the context is kitchen lighting, a dining room pendant, or a statement floor lamp beside a sofa, there is a Mito model designed for it.

Mito largo: the arc floor luminaire

The largo is the piece that draws the most attention in a room. Standing at roughly 200cm, it is a floor luminaire with an arching body that carries the head out and over whatever space is below it. The head pivots, so the light direction can be set precisely after installation and adjusted again whenever the furniture arrangement changes. The current version ships with two technologies that make it genuinely flexible: colour tune, which lets the user set the colour temperature continuously from warm (around 2700K) to cool (around 4000K), and up/down fading, which shifts the balance of the head's output between downward and upward light in a single gesture.

What this means practically is that the largo is not a fixed object in a room — it changes with the time of day and the use of the space. A reading light setting, a dinner light setting, and a relaxed evening setting can all be different, without touching a switch. That range of function makes it relevant in living rooms, dining areas, home offices, and entrance halls. It sits comfortably beside almost any luxury seating — next to a Freifrau armchair, a COR sofa, or standing independently in a larger room where it functions as both light source and sculpture.

Mito sospeso and cosmo move: the pendant models

The pendant models in the Mito family serve a different spatial role. The sospeso drops from a cable and hangs at a fixed height — typically above a dining table or a kitchen island, where the head needs to be close enough to the surface to produce useful task light without overwhelming the surrounding space. The cosmo move is ceiling-mounted with a rotating arm, which lets the head be repositioned after installation. That post-installation flexibility matters in open-plan layouts where a dining table might shift, or where directional accent light needs to follow a function rather than a fixed point.

Both models work naturally above a Janua dining table or a kitchen island specified as part of a wider kitchen design project. The light they produce — warm, directional, precisely controlled — makes food and faces look genuinely good. Colour tune adds the practical dimension: the same pendant that runs warm during an evening dinner can shift cooler for breakfast or lunch without any additional hardware.

Mito raggio: a quieter posture

The raggio is the floor luminaire in the Mito family that sits lower and with a different posture to the largo. Where the largo arcs dramatically over the surrounding furniture, the raggio stands more upright, positioning the head closer to eye level. The result is a quieter presence in a room — more companion than statement. In dark chrome, the raggio's head acts as a mirror of sorts, picking up the room's surfaces and colours in its reflective skin. In a space finished primarily in matt materials, that reflective contrast becomes one of the more deliberate compositional choices in the interior rather than a side effect of the finish.

The raggio's adjustable head works well beside seating where reading or working light is needed, and its more contained scale makes it appropriate for rooms where the largo would feel oversized.

The full Mito family

Beyond the sospeso, largo and raggio, the Mito family includes three further models:

• Mito sfera: A pendant with a slightly more spherical head. Works well in multiples above a table or along a kitchen run, where the consistent form reads as a system rather than a collection of individual units.
• Mito aura alta: A ceiling luminaire with a pendant extension, suited to higher ceilings and larger volumes where a standard pendant drop would look proportionally small.
• Mito cosmo move: Ceiling-mounted with a rotating arm. Best in positions where the light needs to follow a function — a dining table that moves, an island with multiple uses, or an accent position that needs to shift across the day.

The six models cover most residential lighting scenarios. In a luxury kitchen project, it is common to use the cosmo move or sospeso above the island and carry the same finish through to a raggio or largo in the adjacent living area, so the luminaires form a visual thread across the open plan.

Three technologies worth understanding

The Mito includes three Occhio technologies that distinguish it from standard high-end luminaires. All three are built into the light rather than requiring external switches or smart home integration, though an app connection is available for those who want it.

Touchless control replaces the conventional dimmer. A hand movement in the proximity of the light head adjusts the brightness in real time. For a floor lamp beside a sofa, the result is that dimming becomes something you do without moving. There is no switch to reach for and no delay in the response.

Colour tune adjusts the colour temperature continuously across the warm-to-cool range. The practical consequence is that the same luminaire can serve different functions across the day without any change to the hardware. A room lit at 2700K for an evening feels like a different space to the same room lit at 4000K for working — and with the Mito, the shift is immediate and stepless.

Up/down fading applies to heads with dual light output. It shifts the ratio of upward to downward emission in a single gesture, which changes the perceived brightness and height of a room. Running it toward full uplight effectively raises the ceiling. Running it toward full downlight focuses the room onto whatever is below the lamp. For a living room with statement furniture, that control over atmosphere is considerably more useful than a fixed luminaire with a single output direction.

All three can be operated via the Occhio air app over Bluetooth. That matters in installations where several Mito pieces are specified together and need to respond as a unified system — changing colour temperature across a whole room at once, for example, rather than adjusting each luminaire individually.

In context: from entrance halls to dining rooms

The staircase image demonstrates something specific to the Mito: the light head stays proportionate in high-ceiling situations. In a double or triple-height entrance of the kind found in larger Dubai villas, many pendant families look undersized against the architecture. The Mito soffitto — Occhio's ceiling version — holds its scale because the head is substantial enough to read as an object from a distance, not just a point of light.

The bronze finish in the living room image shows the opposite condition: a warm, contained domestic space where the same design language reads entirely differently. Bronze sits naturally beside natural wood surfaces, warm stone, and the kind of fabric selections that come through collections like Freifrau or COR. The scale of the largo works here because the arc clears the seating rather than competing with it.

The range of finishes currently available across the Mito family — matt black, white, bronze, champagne, and the more recent dark chrome — means that the same form can be adapted to different interior palettes without changing the design logic. That adaptability is one of the reasons the Mito has been a consistent part of luxury residential projects across different markets since Occhio launched it.
